The Calais Jungle

On Monday October 24, 2016, the dismantling of the "Jungle of Calais" begins. More than 1,250 French police and gendarmes are deployed. The goal: to provide a rehousing solution to some 6,500 migrants who live in the slum to allow them, in a second step, to seek asylum in France.

Suddenly on Wednesday October 26, scenes of the apocalypse, the Jungle was set ablaze. In a whistle, pierced by the sounds of gas cylinder explosion, a gigantic blaze ravages the camp. Huge columns of smoke rose, raised by impressive flames.
